GRAFT FIXATION SCREW

Summary of Problem: Create a metal bone graft screw with a taper to ease insertion without compromising fixation strength.

Skills Used/Developed:

Managed the project including: setting and maintaining deadlines, scheduling meetings, interfacing with client
Sourced and communicated with potential suppliers
Product development - brainstorming and ideation, sketching and modeling, prototyping and feasibility testing, defining pass fail criterion
Communicated progress to VP of division and sponsoring surgeon

Outcome:

Iterated prototypes including multiple DMLS printed and machined parts
Developed test method to compare existing fixation screw
Reported findings and acquired greenlight to continue development, passed the project onto the next Co-op for an additional iteration
